“Halo” Wire Wrapped Crystal Point Tutorial

Wire Wrapped Crystal Points
Wire Wrapped Crystal Points

If you’ve followed my work for a while, you’ve probably already guessed I have a thing for wire wrapped crystal points. And if you haven’t been following my work, you could take a quick scroll through my gallery on DeviantArt and you’ll see what I mean. I usually do a lot of elaborate weaving for most of my designs, but lately I’ve challenging myself to keep things a little simpler. So, for this week’s tutorial, I decided to do a simple, but rather eye catching, wire wrapped crystal point.

Tools and Supplies:
14 gauge wire
16 gauge wire (for optional coiled bail)
Crystal point (1.5 to 2 inches long works best for this design)
Any round object that is approximately 2″ in diameter
Heavy duty wire cutters
Flat nose pliers
6mm or 7mm mandrel (or other round object that is the correct size)
Flat needle file (or cup bur large enough for 14g wire)
Hammer and bench block (optional)

New Video Tutorial: Swirly Wire Heart Pendant

It’s finally ready. This is the longest video I’ve ever done, and I probably will never do one this long again (it’s almost 2 hours long).

Not the greatest video quality. My recording set up is still a work in progress.

I’m also trying to work on getting more comfortable speaking on videos. So if I sound a little flaky at times, that’s why. I’ve never been good at talking for more than a few seconds at a time. Hopefully you guys can ignore all that stuff for now. 🙂

The four heart necklaces shown at the end of this video are currently available at ShutUpAndCuffMe.com
